**The Opportunity**
Due to an internal secondment, our Finance Department has an exciting opportunity for an experienced **Payroll Officer** to join our small but friendly team. Reporting to the Coordinator Payroll, this position will provide an efficient and effective Payroll service to all employees, in accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement, relevant Awards, statutory requirements, policies and procedures.
The Payroll Officer position is permanent full time. Part time or job share may be considered.
**_Key Responsibilities_**
- Prepare and process timesheets, variations, and input data for the fortnightly Payroll;
- Prepare routine correspondence, reports and statistics, as required;
- Provide high quality customer service to all staff, ensuring accurate and timely advice is given on Payroll matters;
- Contribute to the improvement and development of systems and procedures to increase the efficiency of the Payroll;
- Update and maintain payroll files, databases and spreadsheets on a regular basis, such as the Payroll intranet page, salary register and other payroll documents;
- Regularly liaise with the People and Capability Department to provide Payroll guidance, support and advice.
**_About You_**
- Previous demonstrable experience working as a Payroll Officer within a local government environment or equivalent size organisation with experience preparing and processing timesheets, variations and data entry;
- Working knowledge of a Payroll system, preferably the **Authority Payroll** system (highly desirable);
- Proven experience working with and interpreting Awards, Enterprise Agreements and statutory / legislative requirements;
- Proficient computer skills, including intermediate Word, Excel and Outlook ability;
- No relevant criminal record found in a police check.
