**The Role**
Exciting opportunities at the EL 1 level exist to join the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Enterprise Headquarter (NSS Enterprise HQ) Workforce Branch and contribute to supporting Australia’s national security and strategic objectives. Working in a team as a Strategic Policy and Program Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

- Contribute and support meeting the evolving shipbuilding industry workforce demand and supply needs of the NNS Enterprise through a coordinated national approach to workforce analysis, planning, enhancement, development and skilling.
- Contribute to the ongoing establishment of a sovereign shipbuilding and sustainment capability that will generate better returns on investment by building Australian skills and expertise.
- Liaise extensively and coordinate effectively across the different Enterprise levels, providing exposure to a diverse and, often senior audience within Government and Defence industry.

The Strategic Policy and Program Manager positions are within the NSS External Workforce Strategy and External Workforce Delivery teams. Working in the NNS Enterprise, you will be part of an expanding, dynamic and high profile organisation at the centre of an ambitious, challenging and profoundly important national enterprise.

The NSS Enterprise HQ will continue to expand its workforce within the next 12-18 months. It will offer opportunities via merit pools in the coming months. External Workforce Strategy Directorate - This team is responsible for developing and implementing a range of policy and program strategies. These measures support Australia’s naval shipbuilding workforce to meet the Australian Government’s ambitious Shipbuilding Enterprise agenda.

This team provides advice to Government on all facets of shipbuilding industry workforce demand and supply. NSS Workforce Delivery Directorate - This team has primary carriage and responsibility for the effective program implementation, delivery and management of workforce strategies (external to the department) needed to boost Australia’s NSS enterprise.
- Play an important role as a team member focused on achieving excellence across various areas in high profile, very complex projects.
- Have a can-do attitude and an ability to maintain a positive attitude towards complex problems while using sound judgment and understanding the impacts and risks to strategic outcomes.
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills. Be comfortable engaging and collaborating with various stakeholders while building and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships.
- Previous experience working in a policy and/or program management position is highly desirable.
- Experience and/or exposure to reviewing and delivering complex policy and briefing material.
- Knowledge of and/or experience in Defence industry, domestic or international economic policy and program delivery or related issues will be considered favourably.
