**Principal Building Inspector - Building Compliance Audits**
- ** Duration**: Ongoing/permanent opportunity
- ** Starting salary**: $134,411 - $155,455 p/a plus 10% Superannuation and leave loading
- ** Location**: Sydney metro (must be willing to attend weekly meetings in Parramatta and conduct audits across NSW as required)

Do you want to lead a team to implement the NSW Government’s ‘Construct NSW’ building reform program, a once in a generation reform of the residential building industry?

**The Opportunity**

This role will see you lead a team that conducts audits of selected development sites to identify serious defects and deter non-compliance within the NSW residential building industry. By carrying out this important regulatory function, the team contributes to improving building standards for the benefit of the people of NSW.

**The Role**

Your key responsibilities as a Principal Building Inspector - Building Compliance Audits will include:

- Schedule and lead site audits and inspections
- Lead the review of project documentation
- Draft and review audit reports and other documentation including briefings and Regulatory Orders
- Make recommendations regarding any regulatory action that may be required to achieve compliance
- Play a leading role to develop, test and embed effective audit tools, policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with your colleagues across the team and the Department and assist in bringing awareness and education to the industry
- Effectively use technology, analyse data and understand risk.

**About you**

To succeed as a Principal Building Inspector - Building Compliance Audits, you will:

- Have tertiary qualifications in a building/construction related discipline such as construction, trade services, building surveying, architecture, engineering or planning
- Be an effective, experienced and results orientated people leader
- Have highly developed communication skills, including the ability to write, review and produce high quality reports and other documentation in a timely manner
- Hold a Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or preparedness to undertake an employee sponsored program
- Ability and willingness to travel across NSW as required
- Act with the highest degree of integrity and professionalism
- Be technically competent and detail focused
- Be committed to safety and enjoy working in a dynamic and results driven environment

Experience in one, or more, of the following fields will be beneficial:

- Builder/Trade background
- Clerk of works
- Building Surveying/Certification
- Structural/civil/mechanical engineering
- Fire services
- Waterproofing
- Design Officers (Senior level)
- Technical dispute resolution
- Site Supervision

To be appointed into a Principal Building Inspector role, you will be required to successfully clear and maintain:

- Pre-employment checks including a criminal record check, employment reference checks and Australian Working Rights check
- Satisfactory driving record
- Medical capacity screening regarding physical and psychological impacts of the inherent duties of the role

Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at $134411 base plus superannuation
