The New Acland Coal Mine (NAC), a thin seam open cut mining operation is owned and managed by New Hope Group. Based in Acland, a short drive north-west of Toowoomba NAC has played a key role in the Darling Downs region as an employer and economic contributor since it began operation in October 2002.

We are excited to offer a permanent full-time position for a Graduate Environment Officer to join our team on site at New Acland Coal.

**What you will be doing**:
As the Graduate Environment Officer, you will work closely with a team of experienced environmental professionals to support compliance, environmental monitoring and contribute to sustainability at the mine.

**You will achieve success by**:

- Assisting with environmental monitoring and sampling according to regulatory approvals and site management plans
- Collating environmental data according to site requirements including entry into the database and data analysis
- Supporting the Environmental team in liaising with government agencies and the local community
- Supporting the Senior Environmental Advisors in completing reporting and auditing requirements
- Assisting with the delivery of environment related educational campaigns to site

**What you will need to succeed**:

- Degree in Environmental Science; Engineering or equivalent (Completed or soon to be completed)
- Live within an hour of site & ability to drive to site for work everyday
- Commitment to your career in environmental management in mining
- Strong communication skills to communicate effectively across all levels of site
- Be able to work as part of a team
