The New Acland Coal Mine (NAC), a thin seam open cut mining operation is owned and managed by New Hope Group. NAC is based 35km north-west of Toowoomba and plays a key role in the Darling Downs region as an employer and economic contributor since it began operation in October 2002.

About the role:

As NAC continues to progress, we are now seeking experienced CHPP Maintainer Operators (Electrical and Mechanical) to join the CHPP Maintenance Team on a permanent, full-time basis. Working a 7/7 day / night rotating roster and reporting to the CHPP Supervisor, the CHPP Maintainer Operator plays a pivotal role in ensuring safe coal production and effective coal delivery.

What you will do:

  • Conduct routine and breakdown maintenance activities within the plant
  • Operation, inspection and monitoring of the CHPP operations
  • Comply with site procedures to ensure safe and consistent delivery of the CHPP production targets
  • Participate in CHPP improvement processes as required
  • Maintain cleanliness of all areas of the CHPP
  • Comply with New Hope Group's Health, Safety and Environmental procedures at all times

To be considered for these opportunities you will bring:

  • Trade Qualifications within the Mechanical or Electrical Engineering fields
  • Maintenance and Operation of Coal Washplants or other heavy industry experience an advantage
  • Ability to conduct diagnostic troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of industrial pumping, sizing, screening and conveyor systems
  • Experience in the use of SCADA control systems for process control will be highly regarded
  • Experience with computer-based maintenance systems (desirable)

  • A strong safety mindset with ability to actively identify and report hazards/incidents
  • Enthusiasm to positively contribute to site culture and work as a team
  • High attention to detail and precision in executing tasks
  • Ability to work well as a team and independently
  • Ability to undergo and pass a coal board medical
  • Ability to work either a 7/7 day / night roster including weekends and night shift
  • The ability to contribute to and work as part of team in a fast-paced environment
