**The Role**
The Language Teacher role involves working as part of a team of teachers at the Defence International Training Centre delivering English language courses to international students. The primary instructional tasks take place in the Language Training Section, which offers courses that range from Pre-Intermediate through to Advanced Level. These courses involve a mixed model of General and Academic English components. Some courses may also involve English for Specific Purposes components such as Aviation English, or Military English. Tasks will also include course and materials development for all the above. Work in the Teacher Training Section, may also be a part of timetabled duty. Teacher interest in current global relations and in current ELT methods are fundamental to ensuring a high standard of delivery at DITC. It is also expected that teachers have an active interest in their own professional development.

**About our Team**
DITC administers and supports all international defence force members who arrive in Australia for further training. The Language Training Section at DITC is responsible for all English language learning course outcomes for these members. These are general and academic in purpose and may offer pathways to further education within the Australian Defence College.

There are also courses under the supervision of the Teacher Training Section or the Preparatory Training Section that deliver training or academic preparation programmes that an APS 5 Language teacher will also support. The team of language teachers therefore is a flexible and agile team working across many courses. The team plays a pivotal role in language enhancement supporting cross-cultural awareness crucial to developing Australia's ongoing international defence engagement.
