**About this role**
The Principal, Monitoring oversees the coordination, administration and ongoing development of systems and processes for monitoring health practitioners’ compliance with orders and conditions imposed on their registration. The role supports the primary purpose of the Council which is to protect the health and safety of the public through the regulation of practitioners in response to complaints.

**What you'll be doing**
- Lead the monitoring functions required by the Council to enable effective assessment of compliance with orders and conditions imposed on practitioners’ registration; including the reporting and management of non-compliance matters.
- Attend and influence Council/Committee meetings, provide guidance and feedback to hearing members and HPCA staff on the effectiveness of conditions; develop, review and maintain the Council’s Conditions Handbook and policies and procedures related to conditions to ensure that orders and conditions imposed are best practice, consistent and able to be effectively monitored to ensure public safety
- At short notice, provide advice and information to Council, practitioners, hearing members and other stakeholders on the interpretation of policies and procedures related to compliance with conditions
- Monitor trends in the regulatory environment and initiate research and continuous improvement projects to improve efficiency and effectiveness of monitoring within the Council
- Establish relationships with AHPRA and other external agencies / regulators who monitor practitioners, as well as partners and service providers who assist Council to monitor (such as Medicare, Health Insurance Commission, Pathology and pharmaceutical service providers) and facilitate strategic discussions in relation to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

- Proven capacity to make appropriate decisions and manage complex programs in a regulatory or other professional environment
- High level conceptual, problem-solving, planning, and policy development skills plus the capacity to identify and manage emerging and contentious issues to resolution
- Ability to provide sound advice and make recommendations in relation to emerging issues concerning the regulation of health practitioners

The Health Professional Councils Authority (HPCA) is an executive agency of the NSW Ministry of Health. We play an important role in protecting the health and safety of the public by supporting the 15 NSW Health Professional Councils in managing complaints about NSW health practitioners.
The position is based at the HPCA Pitt Street offices, located only a short walking distance from Central Station and Belmore Park.
