What to Expect
Tesla is looking for an experienced and dynamic High Voltage specialist for the role of High Voltage Operating Authority. We are seeking an experienced applicant with excellent technical skills and experience, proven track record and exposure to HV and Utility sectors, coupled with exceptional communication skills to work within the Energy Products Service team. The primary role is to support the Utility Service team, acting as the business nominee in support of electrical service and commissioning activities nationally and complying with the electrical service requirements of each State.

What You’ll Do
- Act as the High Voltage Operating Authority for the business across Australia and manage the HV Safety procedures including their compliance through all state regulatory bodies.
- Oversee and approval of the implementation of electrical safety procedures and operational HV switching at all BESS sites
- Ensure compliance to training, both qualification and competency, working with the national technical trainer
- Provide support and advice to operations team on maintenance of electrical infrastructure across distribution and transmission voltages
- Provide technical advice, audits and compliance, commissioning, and installation of HV products and electrical systems
- Assist in the safe operation of a variety of High Voltage test equipment (including primary injection, HV IR testers, and relay testing equipment)
- Review and develop procedures for various maintenance activities related to Tesla Energy equipment and third party equipment
- Maintain high levels of communication and feedback within the Tesla Energy service organization
- Maintain high level of record keeping with regards to all HV operations, including but not limited to switching co-ordination
- Have flexibility to provide support outside your region and possibly outside the country as required

What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualification or trade qualification with equivalent experience
- Minimum 10+ years’ HV electrical experience in large scale C&I, Utility sector. (Substation/Solar/Wind/Storage experience is preferred)
- Experience working with network authorities across states and territories
- High Voltage Switching / Operating Qualification
- CPR & Low Voltage Rescue
- SCADA experience
- Must be able to work from complex and detailed documentation and/or verbal and written instructions depending on situation.
- Procedural development experience.
- Strong computer skills. Comfort with Microsoft office and cloud-based computing programs. Ability to communicate and function well in a mobile office setting.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Must be reliable, have good initiative, committed, and quality focused.
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including the public.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain and perform top level professional integrity and appearance
- Willingness to travel and maintain strong site presence
