The City of Sydney has a vacancy for an experienced Claims Officer to join the Risk Management team.

As a Claims Officer you will be experienced in evaluating information, making decisions involving legal liability regarding incidents and claims that might result in property loss or personal injury to third parties. The role is integral to the functioning of Council's insurance and risk management program and involves daily interaction with external legal panel providers, expert consultants, insurers, the City's insurance broking provider, the City's facilities maintenance provider, as well as visitors, residents and customers within the Local Government Area. The role also involves extensive internal liaison with other City staff in different business units.

To be successful in this role, you will have a degree qualification in law and/or significant relevant work experience in managing public liability, property claims for an insurer, broker or law firm. You will also have excellent interpersonal communication skills including the ability to show empathy to customers in difficult situations.

The successful applicant is required to complete a national criminal history check and a pre-employment health declaration form.
