**Communication Specialist - Social Media (Australia - Remote - Full Time)**
The Communication Specialist - Social Media reports to the Media and Stakeholder Engagement Specialist, Australia/ South Asia, and will support the development of IEEFA’s outreach strategy, in particular when it comes to social media, identifying opportunities to increase our reach and influence towards finance, corporate and government decision-makers. They will write and help develop engaging content to share on various social media platforms as well as via direct engagement channels.
IEEFA is a rapidly growing NGO/ not for profit that conducts research and analysis on financial and economic issues related to energy markets, trends, and policies. Headquartered in the United States, IEEFA has a team of 70+ analysts and communications personnel located in 15 countries across the globe. IEEFA produces a significant volume of original research, as well as ongoing analysis and reports on issues affecting energy industries.
**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Maintaining social media accounts, Twitter, and LinkedIn, posting, tweeting, and promoting news items, media coverage, and research
- Building and strengthening relations across social channels, e.g. Twitter, LinkedIn
- Creating engaging digital content to maximize reach and impact in collaboration with the communications team
- Designing and implementing social media campaigns in line with the overall IEEFA communication strategy
- Monitoring and analysing social media mentions, and trending topics
- Gathering and analysing data from social media accounts to measure content performance and impact
- Researching, updating, and maintaining key stakeholders’ contact database.
- Handling a wide variety of written content development tasks, from routine to creative features
- Working with the Media and Stakeholder Engagement Specialist and analysts to develop outreach strategies to help achieve each report’s impact objectives
- Collaborating with overseas IEEFA colleagues to share ideas and suggest new practices to optimize IEEFA’s reach and influence
**Required Qualifications**
- Relevant tertiary education in communications, public relations, media relations or another related field or equivalent experience
- 2 to 4 years experience as a social media content producer or similar role
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and design and publishing tools such as Canva, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Ability to work under pressure with competing priorities and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Commitment to IEEFA’s mission to accelerate the transition to a diverse, sustainable, and profitable economy
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Strong interest in current affairs in Australia, particularly in the energy and finance sectors
- Prior experience in graphic design, content writing, and audio and video editing
- Experience working for a research organisation or advocacy organisation
**Compensation and Benefits**
Full-time 12-month fixed-term employment contract with the option of extension by mutual agreement; Remuneration $75,000 - $85,000 base, plus super (negotiable with more experience). Our competitive benefits package includes annual leave (20 days per year), personal/carer’s leave (10 days per year), an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a home office set-up stipend, a monthly mobile phone allowance, and technology equipment provided.
**Work Schedule**
Full-time, 38 hours/week with occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
**Location and Travel**
The Communications Specialist - Social Media will work remotely and may be based anywhere in Australia. Some travel is required. All global team members attend IEEFA’s annual conference and international team retreat in the USA. Quarterly in person team meetings alternate between Sydney and Melbourne.
**Physical Demand and Work Environment**
Must be able to work for prolonged periods at a computer. Computer work can involve repetitive motion, eyestrain, back, and neck strain.
