**Who are we looking for?**

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Venues & Events Operations Coordinator to join Alumni and Corporate Events, Business Development Portfolio, Chancellery Division.

The Venues & Events Operations Coordinator is responsible for high quality service delivery to venue hire clients and internal users through coordination of events in QUT’s premium venues and public spaces. These venues include Room Three Sixty, Gardens Theatre, QUT Art Museum, Old Government House, and internal function venues across Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campuses. This position is also responsible for the supervision of a large cohort of casual front-of-house and function staff. As a member of the Alumni & Corporate Events team, the Venues & Events Operations Coordinator is required to work cooperatively with other operational areas of QUT including technical, production, finance and marketing areas, and will regularly liaise with University service units.

Chancellery Division is responsible for strategy, including Indigenous strategy, government relations and policy, assurance and risk, international, marketing and communications, and business development. The Chancellery Division is led by the Vice-Chancellor and President.

**About the Business Development Portfolio**

The Business Development Portfolio provides university-wide coordination and stewardship of QUT’s engagement with industry, philanthropic and alumni communities. Led by the Vice-President (Business Development), the following areas fall within the Portfolio’s responsibility:

- Office of the Vice-President (Business Development);
- Industry Engagement;
- Advancement; and
- Alumni and Corporate Events.

**What you need to succeed**

To thrive in this role, you will be someone who enjoys taking the initiative to provide excellent service and support across a broad range of activities each day.

You will demonstrate:

- Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a relevant degree with subsequent supervisory experience in venue operations, customer service, hospitality or similar.
- Evidence of a successful track record of supervising staff including taking responsibility for effective service delivery, task assignment, performance monitoring and creating a productive team environment.
- Evidence of capacity to develop and deliver on-the-job training to casual staff, so that they understand performance standards and can provide consistently high level of service.
- Evidence of high-level interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining relationships with staff in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated understanding of computerised systems that support rostering and ticketing platforms.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety principles and practices to ensure implementation at appropriate level.
