**Building Surveyor - Compliance**: $96,731 - $101,823 p.a. + super (based on experience)

**Compliance Officer - Building**: $85,751 - $90,264 p.a. + super (based on experience)

The Development Services team plays a vital role in ensuring safe and compliant development across the City. Whether you’re an experienced Building Surveyor or an emerging Compliance Officer, you’ll be part of a professional and collaborative team that values integrity, service excellence, and community impact.

**What You’ll Do**
- Investigate and resolve complaints related to building compliance
- Provide technical advice on breaches of the Building Act, Regulations, and Council policies
- Process Building Approval Certificates and Occupancy Permits for unauthorised works
- Prepare reports, collect evidence, and support legal proceedings
- Assist in training and mentoring junior officers and technical staff
- Collaborate with planning and health services to resolve cross-functional compliance issues

**About You**
- Tertiary qualifications in Building or a related discipline (for Building Surveyor role)
- Registration as a Building Surveyor Practitioner in WA (Level 1 or 2)
- Strong knowledge of statutory building control in a local government context
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to investigate and resolve complaints with professionalism and empathy
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Local government experience (desirable)
