
Manager Portfolio Performance

What you will do
- Provide leadership in the implementation and subsequent operation of innovative
performance management and investment allocation to manage risk and focus the
department's investment in and delivery of priority outcomes, consistent with DAF's
and the Government's strategic direction.
- Prepare briefing notes, information papers, reports and correspondence on
complex performance management and investment issues, key business priorities
and operational issues including matters for discussion with departmental
executives, Ministers and other departmental and government stakeholders.
- Provide high level performance management and investment allocation advice to
the Director, Portfolio Performance, Executive Director EPMO and the Deputy
Director-General Corporate based on contemporary best practice approaches for the
management and evaluation of public investment.
- Contribute to the coordination and management of an evaluation program for the
department to deliver efficient, cost-effective evaluations to inform future investment
decision-making.
- Provide thorough monitoring and reporting of the performance of the department
against strategic objectives, building a stronger culture around the quality delivery of
projects, programs and outcomes on time.
- Monitor and maintain knowledge of national and international developments in
strategic planning, investment allocation and management of performance activities
of the department to contribute to the ongoing improvement and implementation of
DAF's frameworks and systems to support investment decision making.
- Build capability in performance management across the department through
education, training and communities of practice, with a focus on leading change.
- Represent the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries on high level forums and
committees and in whole of government processes to achieve the Government's
goals and objectives and demonstrate value for money public investment.
- Work across performance management areas of the Queensland Government
and business groups within DAF to help manage and build an effective organisation
with a particular focus on maturing performance monitoring and management
capability.
- Develop and maintain multi-level effective relationships, networks and
partnerships with peers and managers across DAF and the broader Queensland
Government to facilitate effective outcomes.
- Foster an environment that values individual and team performance and
continuous improvement and ensure that the Department's management practices
are consistent with contemporary 'best practice'.
