Accounts Assistant

The Accounts Assistant, with a focus on Accounts Payable, will support the finance team by ensuring timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices and payments. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage daily financial operations effectively. The Accounts Assistant will also assist in maintaining the accuracy of financial records, completing end-of-month tasks, and liaising with vendors and internal teams to resolve discrepancies.
**The Role**:
- Ensure all accounts payable invoices are signed and coded by Heads of Departments.
- Process supplier invoices into the accounting system within the relevant month.
- Prepare and process EFT for weekly and monthly payments.
- Reconcile supplier statements by month-end.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies and maintain vendor files.
- Review bank statements and record daily deposits.
- Resolve bank disputes.
- Interface financial data from other systems into the accounting software.
- Monitor debtors, send monthly statements, and chase overdue payments.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare payroll analysis.
- Assist in stock take and reconciliation at Yarra Valley.
- Prepare monthly KPIs and Profit & Loss reports.
- Post basic general journal entries.
- Assist in processing payroll when required.

**About You**:
- Technical Accounting Skills: A strong understanding of accounting principles and processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy and precision in processing financial data and identifying discrepancies in accounts and transactions.
- Organisational Skills: Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks, and handle multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy.
- Communication: Effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Capacity to analyse financial data, identify trends, and solve issues related to discrepancies or financial systems.
- Ethics and Confidentiality: Adhere to ethical accounting practices and maintain confidentiality in all financial dealings.
- Adaptability and Continuous Learning: Willingness to adapt to new financial regulations, software, and processes, and pursue professional development.
- Customer Service: Focuses on providing excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders by responding promptly to enquiries from suppliers, clients, and colleagues.
