**About the Role**
We currently have a great opportunity for a safety professional to join the team based in **Gepps Cross**. This role will see you Provide Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) leadership and support to the Food and Liquor business units operating across **South Australia and the Northern Territory**.
This role is also responsible for proactively driving implementation of the Metcash SHE Strategy, deployment of practices which support legislative requirements, build capability within all levels of Metcash’s leadership, foster effective workforce, and trade partner engagement and drive continuous improvement.
**What you'll do**
- Provide advice and support to senior level management and business pillars regarding SHE and Injury Management programs, policies, and processes.
- Support the development and implementation of the Metcash SHE Strategy and assist with the local coordination of safety, health, and wellbeing and environmental initiatives.
- Ensure SHE processes are implemented at site level establishing a culture of ‘Safety as a Core Value’.
- Work with the Injury Management Advisor WA/SA/NT, to set the strategy for Workers Compensation claims management, including the identification and upskilling of pillar return to work coordinators, implementation of Metcash Injury Management processes, and effective care and rehabilitation of injured employees.
- Proactively manage safety, health, and environmental risk and to coach and build this capability in others.
- Oversee compliance to relevant training needs analysis / matrices as required.
- Promote leadership to include key performance indicators for their direct reports for the completion of SHE Conversations to reinforce the right behaviour and contribute to a safe culture in all pillars.
- Build leader’s capability to lead high potential SHE incidents investigations to verify appropriateness of corrective actions and communication of learnings to align all with Metcash Leadership and Behaviour
- Liaise with regulators to notify of required incidents, including liaison with relevant pillar leaders to close out improvement and other notices.
- Conduct audits to verify that compliance and behaviour is in line with the SHE Management System and work with pillar leads and sites to develop action plans to address identified opportunities.
**What you'll bring**
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a safety leadership position - preferably in FMCG, Warehousing, Distribution and Supply Chain
- Tertiary qualifications in SHE or a related discipline
- ICAM Lead Investigator Certification
- SHE Lead Auditor Certification
- Proven ability to work effectively with line management to build capability and safety leadership.
- Solutions provider, innovator thinker with a continuous improvement mind-set
- Proven capability in Injury/Claims Management with preference for Return to Work Coordinator Certification
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer-based software programs.
