An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the Finance Branch as a Budget Analyst at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
Within the Cabinet, Communications and Corporate group, the Finance branch is composed of the financial reporting and compliance, special projects, budget and grants, portfolio accounting, working closely together to manage the department's funding, strategic planning, reporting, budget activities and compliances.
In the role of Budget Analyst and as part of the budget strategy team, you will prepare and analyse information for financial reports, and analyse changes to group budgets.
This position will play a key role in the preparation and provision of the Department's internally allocated budget data to business units and branches within the Department.
The role also requires high level conceptual and analytical skills, strong written skills, attention to detail and ability to build effective relationships. A degree in accounting, finance, or commerce (desirable).
About you
- Demonstrated experience in a business or management accounting role in a complex organisation.
- Proven ability and familiarity with budgeting systems and annual budget processes. Familiarity with ORACLE financial systems would be highly regarded.
- Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, provide advice on processes and policies, and work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to meet deadlines while working in pressured situations
- Sound conceptual and analytical skills, strong initiative and a ‘can do' approach to identify issues and develop appropriate solutions to solve business problems and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
