**About the Role**:
Reporting to the Manager for Health, Safety & Radiation, we are seeking an experienced Radiation professional to support our South Australian operations as Principal Radiation. You will be an integral member in a team of dedicated professionals enabling the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce. This is a unique opportunity to drive the growth and improvement of our Radiation Protection processes in a complex and rewarding setting, with this role providing extensive personal and professional development.

The role is a full time, permanent position. Flexible working options are available depending on location. The opportunity requires you to provide leadership, coaching, strategic direction and expert support on BHP radiation risk management systems and processes.

**You will be required to**:

- Provide strategic direction for radiation management at Olympic Dam, through working closely with the site Radiation and Occupational Hygiene team and key Operation stakeholders, to build capability across the asset.
- Provide expert advice and leadership on all issues relating to Radiation
- Establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify, develop and execute radiation improvement initiatives in a timely and pragmatic manner
- Maintain, review and analyse radiation data, provide technical advice and coaching on trends and emerging risks.
- Support risk management processes and development of critical controls for potential radiation exposure pathways
- Deliver on external and business reporting requirements, in line with state, federal and international Radiation Protection legislation
- Lead the implementation of Radiation processes documented within the Olympic Dam Integrated Management System, including support to implementing requirements and executing Governance processes
- Provide Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) support to the Operation

**About You**:
This role will suit an experienced and self-motivated radiation technical professional who has a proven history as an effective coach, with strong communication and engagement skills and a solid record of achieving results through influence and mentoring.

You may also have:

- Tertiary qualifications in Physics, Radiation Protection or other relevant field
- Excellent relationship building and people skills, to enable complex information to be conveyed to customers in a meaningful, simple and practical manner.
- Solution focused and action orientated with the capability to meet deadlines and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong computer literacy and experience with databasing practices and common software packages is essential. In depth understanding of Excel spreadsheeting and programming in visual basic, SQL or similar is highly desirable
- Previous exposure to the mining and minerals processing industries is preferable.
- A South Australian radiation licence or transferrable equivalent is desirable
- Exposure to BHP operating systems is highly desirable.
