**The Role**
This Engineer Professional (Mechanical) position is within the MCPSPO Engineering section, working under the direction of the MCPSPO Principal Engineer, to perform and achieve complex systems engineering work within the MCPSPO integrated team, other NSSG System Program Offices and industry to meet capability requirements.

In this role you will investigate, analyse and report on the systems engineering defects and requirements, develop and implement recommendations and advice to address issues. Example systems include Life-saving and survivability equipment, gun system, breathing apparatus, propulsion systems.

You will provide detailed systems engineering technical and professional advice to executive authority in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management.

This role requires considerable level of stakeholder engagement in relation to complex or difficult issues, and you will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholder’s needs and expectations to achieve expected outcomes.

**About our Team**
The Maritime Cross Platform Systems Program Office (MCPSPO) within Maritime Systems Division, is the lead agency for delivery of cross-Class sustainment services and advice across the maritime environment. MCPSPO sustains and manages a range of complex military systems and supplies, through an extensive network of industry partners, domestic and off-shore.
Our operating environment is complex and challenging, and requires exceptional contract and relationship management skills. MCPSPO is comprised of three functions, including Commercial, Sustainment and Engineering cells.
The teams work in a complex, fast paced environment as part of a diverse and inclusive Branch environment that encompasses a variety of knowledge, skills and experience within a supportive hierarchy.

- Sound knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

- An excellent level of stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholder’s needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
- Relationship management experience and an understanding of contract management principles.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to write clear and concise correspondence, briefs and reports.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn and understand the sustainment environment, Defence Seaworthiness and Integrated Logistics Systems (ILS) practices within the domain.
- Ability to work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work.
