Learning Designer

The Learning Designer is responsible for
contributing to the agreed strategic faculty
priorities for curriculum transformation to
deliver high quality curriculum aligned with
QUT’s Real World Learning vision and blended
and online framework.
You will be an essential member of a
Curriculum Design Studio team that supports
faculties to design, develop and deliver
transformative curriculum. You will use
innovative pedagogical theory and practice and
emerging technologies in the design, delivery
and evaluation of whole of course design and
curriculum for face-to-face, blended, flipped,
mobile and online learning environments to
meet the needs of learners.
This position reports to the Manager,
Curriculum Design Studio for supervision,
workload management and for Performance
Planning and Review (PPR).
**Key responsibilities include**:
- In partnership with the Senior Curriculum
and Learning Designer/Senior Lecturer,
Curriculum and Learning Design,
contribute to whole of course/program
design and curriculum transformation
activities for a designated faculty to ensure
that agreed strategic curriculum
transformation outcomes are achieved.
- Work in close partnership with other
members of the Curriculum Design Studio
to strengthen the quality of the learning
experience and realise strategic priorities
agreed between the faculty and the
Curriculum Design Studio Manager.
- Contribute to the design of curriculum,
especially with a focus on using innovative
pedagogical theory and practice and
emerging technologies in relation to whole
of course design and online learning.
- Design sustainable, high-quality learning
and assessment activities and resources
incorporating evidence-based design
principles.
- In a systematic way, build staff capability in
the appropriate use of digital technologies
to enhance teaching and curriculum design
practices.
- In partnership with the Senior Curriculum
and Learning Designer/Senior Lecturer,
Curriculum and Learning Design and
Production Team members, manage
delivery timelines and advise of any
potential risks to on time completion of
work.
- Maintain and disseminate knowledge of
relevant current developments in learning
and teaching in the tertiary sector.

- Compliance with health, safety and
environment policies, procedures, hazard
reporting and safe work practices.
To ensure job flexibility the successful
- appointee may be required to:
- perform any other duties as nominated by
the University consistent with the relevant
classification descriptors detailed in the

Selection Criteria
1. Education, training and/or experience
equivalent to postgraduate qualifications or
progress towards postgraduate
qualifications in a relevant discipline area
and extensive relevant experience.
2. Experience in adopting a whole of course
design methodology and implementing
learning design methodologies which
incorporate evidence-based pedagogy for
on campus and digital learning
environments.
3. Proven ability to plan, design and deliver
academic capability development activities
and resources which increase the uptake
of appropriate technology enhanced
teaching practice to improve student
learning experience approaches at an
institutional level.

5. Demonstrated experience in the
implementation of transformational
institutional policies and/or strategies for
innovation in the delivery of higher
education.
6. Proven ability to manage competing
deadlines and multiple tasks in a dynamic

stakeholder management skills with the
ability to partner, influence learning and
teaching practices and work as an effective
team member.
**Remuneration and Benefits**
The classification for this position is Higher
Education Worker Level 8 (HEW8) which has
an annual remuneration range of $120,338 to
$136,408 pa. Which is inclusive of an annual
salary range of $101,687 to $115,266 pa, 17%
superannuation, and leave loading.
