**The Department**

The National Clinical Trials Governance Framework has been developed by the Australian Commission for Safety and Quality in Health Care (“the Commission”) to support the delivery of high-quality clinical trials services.

The Governance Framework is based on the Commission’s existing National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards for hospital and day procedure service accreditation, in particular the Clinical Governance Standard and the Partnering with Consumers Standard.

It describes the actions required to integrate clinical trial service delivery into health services corporate and clinical governance processes, ensuring that clinical trials are integrated in health services delivery and undertaken in safe manner, foster a culture of quality and innovation and improve patient outcomes.

**The Role**

Prior to rolling at the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework nationally, the Commission on Safety and Quality in Health undertook a Pilot of the Governance Framework (NCTGF) in selected health service organisations. Alfred Health participated in this Pilot, supported by expertise from TrialHub, and was the only Health Service in Victoria and one of three nationally to achieve an overall rating of established. TrialHub, in partnership with Alfred Health, has leveraged the resources utilised in the Pilot, and with further enhancements, has developed a model for effective implementation and accreditation against the NCTGF, to deliver clinical trials safely.

With ongoing support of the Victorian Government, Alfred Health has been funded to support the implementation of the framework at regional sites and support the subsequent accreditation requirements.

The Project Officer, under the direction of the Project Implementation Lead, National Clinical Trials Governance Framework, will support the implementation of the NCTGF at regional sites and subsequent accreditation requirements. The Project Working Group comprising of Director of Research, Senior Manager Ethics and Research Governance, Director TrialHub and Start-Up Manager TrialHub with the Project Lead will support the workplan and activities of this project.

**Qualification & Experience Required**

- Experience in project support / management
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects to achieve outcomes of an exceptionally high standard
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the capacity to liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Proven analytical, written and oral communication skills, with the ability
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities to consistently and effectively at all times and take the initiative to run with projects and tasks
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, organise own tasks and work effectively as a member of a team.
- Be solution-based and responsive - ability to problem solve and plan coherent responses to administrative issues as they arise.
- Strong IT skills, with the ability to learn new software systems as required and provide IT support to the team
