A fantastic opportunity exists for an experienced Project and Policy Officer to join the Community Capability team at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Community Capability team sits within the First Peoples - State Relations Group and is accountable for a range of effective governance and capacity building initiatives. It also recognises and celebrates the stories, achievements and cultures of the Victorian Aboriginal community through several events.
As the Project and Policy Officer, you will support the economic capacity and sustainability of Aboriginal organisations across Victoria through the management of grants and contracts. You will be responsible in assisting a small team who manage a program of signature Aboriginal events and community infrastructure projects.
The Project and Policy Officer will play an active role in engaging and building partnerships across government and communities to influence future investment and achieve better outcomes for Aboriginal Victorians.
This is a unique opportunity to work in new and innovative ways that recognise First Peoples as the self-determining drivers of Aboriginal affairs in Victoria.
About you
- Demonstrated experience supporting the delivery of grant programs or procurement processes in a dynamic and complex environment.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering projects within agreed timeframes.
- Proven written communication skills, including the ability to prepare complex briefs, correspondence, submissions and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to establish and maintain effective and culturally safe working relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience in policy analysis and advice.
