Terminal Manager

Main Purpose:
Managing operational and contractual performance of 3rd Party operators, the management of stock and manufacturing, balancing maintenance and capital works with meeting operational and customer requirements, controlling operational expenditure and leading the implementation of operational improvements. This role provides leadership to the Botany terminal staff to ensure operations are conducted safely and efficiently, while meeting Puma standards and statutory requirements.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
3rd Party & Joint Venture (JV) Operations
- Maintain an intimate knowledge of the Bitumen, JV and PMB facility contracts;
- Manage performance of the 3rd Party and JV to contractual requirements;
- Support Management and facilitate the onsite delivery of all Puma obligations under the contracts;
- Provide instructions to the 3rd Party & JV operators as required to meet production and sales requirements;
- Facilitate stock measurement and supply chain requirements for Bitumen and Raw Material products.
- Maintain strong relationships with 3rd Party & JV stakeholders to facilitate the best service delivery under the contracts.
Puma Operations
- Ensuring production requirements meet customer daily orders and weekly and long-term forecasting.
- Monitor stock measurement and supply situation, and advise stakeholders of supply or quality issues, in particular potential customer impacts;
- Manage the efficient and safe discharge of products from ships, minimising demurrage due to the facility.
- Minimising the impact of equipment breakdowns by quickly trouble-shooting problems and implementing effective solutions.
- Support the reliable operation of the site distributed control system and automated gantry loading systems to ensure safe, efficient plant operation, including technical support and diagnosis of system faults to minimise downtime.
- Maintain strong relationships with Customers and Internal stakeholders (Sales, Supply and Customer Service) to communicate supply issues;
- Development and implementation of effective processes, systems, procedures and training to support continuity and efficiency in operations and sales activities for the Terminal.
- Benchmarking Botany Puma operations against Puma Operational Excellence program.
- Manage the co-operated facility in line with the 3rd Party agreements; and
- All other tasks as directed by your Manager.
Work Health & Safety
- Ensure Puma operations maintains a SAPS (Puma Safety Management System) compliance Level 3 score for Botany PMB;
- Proactive management of health, safety and environment issues;
- Full use of the Sphera system for reporting and tracking;
- Ensuring systems in place to meet Environmental licence requirements;
- Ensuring site holds current licences and that licence conditions are met.
- Support Puma Bitumen leadership in conducting Due Diligence in Workplace Health and Safety matters.
Maintenance
- Monitor an effective maintenance work management process.
- Ensure 3rd Party CMMS (computer maintenance management system) for Botany PMB facilities are accurate and utilised effectively.
- Ensure the facility continues to comply with relevant Australian standards and other regulatory requirements to meet our legal operating obligations;
- Manage contractors to site requirements.
- Procedures, work instructions, risk assessments and MOC are in place and followed.
- Support the 3rd party and JV operators through Feasibility, Engineering, Procurement and Construction phases for major works and planned shutdowns.
- Ensuring all work that is carried out is compliant with relevant legislation and standards.
- Ensure construction and execution of projects are compliant to site safety requirements.
Financial
- Prepare capital and fixed cost budgets for Botany operations;
- Monitor operations to ensure costs and expenditure are minimised and remain within budget;
- Identify and implement cost saving initiatives, and share with other operations.
- Monitor and report on key measures including forecast vs. budget, throughput volumes, maintenance costs, HSE, personnel, Unit Operating Cost.
Leadership/Team Development
- Provide leadership to direct reports and the broader Puma team;
- Promote an operational cultural to drive efficient and cost-effective operations and maintenance.
- Assign tasks and review in accordance with SAPS requirements;
- Manage own performance and that of direct reports;
- Effectively use the Performance management process for all reports, both direct and below.
- Celebrate success within the team.
- Contribute to the development of a positive culture.
**REQUIREMENTS**:
Qualification
- Qualifications that best support this role are tertiary education in an Engineering related discipline or relevant Trade Certification.

- 3 years minimum experience working in hazardous industrial plants,
