**The Role**

**As a Tourism Project Officer, you will support the delivery of tourism infrastructure projects in Victoria. The role will assist in the delivery of timely and accurate tourism infrastructure project reporting, and advice to Ministers, departmental senior management, Government stakeholders and other key community and industry stakeholders on a range of infrastructure policy and development issues.

The role will require someone with demonstrated project management skills, knowledge of government processes and the tourism industry. As well as the ability to work effectively with stakeholders to support the successful delivery of infrastructure projects.

**Key accountabilities include**:

- Manage projects and funding agreements ensuring delivery of key milestones and reporting, monitoring and resolution of issues is undertaken.
- Establish and manage stakeholder relationships and program governance structures to ensure the effective delivery of tourism infrastructure projects.
- Provide support to maintain project documentation through GEMS platform including project updates, variations and program management.
- Prepare timely and accurate advice to support submissions, reports, briefs to Ministers and Tourism and Events senior management on matters related to the implementation of infrastructure issues.

**The Team**

The position of Tourism Project Officer will work across Tourism and Events branch, which sits within Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) group.

Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) is comprised of Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) and Tourism and Events (T&E).

The Tourism and Events (T&E) branch is responsible for strengthening the profile of tourism and events across government and influencing strategic reforms and economic outcomes for the sector.

Tourism and Events undertakes research and provides policy, strategy and industry development advice to the government and industry on the visitor economy. The branch also provides governance support and advice on a number of entities that market the state, secure events, and manage large scale tourist attractions, precincts, facilities and entertainment venues in Victoria.

**About You**

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

- **Specialist/Technical Experience**: Navigates GEMS with advanced skills, serving as a power user within the system. Demonstrates the ability to create effective dashboards and generate insightful reports, contributing to comprehensive project monitoring and reporting capabilities.
- **Project Management**: Demonstrates experience in effectively managing grants for tourism infrastructure projects across the project lifecycle, including using Project Management tools such as RAID logs and milestone tracking.
- **Planning and Organising**: Identifies processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal; identifies more and less critical activities and operates accordingly, reviewing and adjusting as required; develops and implements systems and procedures to guide work and track progress; recognises barriers and finds effective ways to deal with them.
- **Influence and Negotiation**: Adapts the content, style, message, or tone of a presentation to suit the audience and plans how to tackle objections; sells own ideas by linking them to others' values, needs and goals; negotiates and implements a well-planned course of action to achieve a specific impact.
- **Written Communication**: Proficient in preparing Minister and Executive briefs and grant agreement variations, including Deeds of variation. Ensures precise documentation and alignment with project requirements, using clear, concise, and grammatically correct language; ensures written communications contain necessary information to achieve their purpose; uses appropriate style and formats.
