Hejaz Asset Management Pty Ltd is a leading diversified financial services company based in Melbourne, Australia. We are looking for a highly analytical problem solvers with a financial background for the position of **Economist**. This opportunity is being offered on a permanent full-time basis.

**Key responsibilities for the Economist are**:

- Providing forecasts to businesses on matters such as wages and prices, unemployment rates, imports and exports, taxes, budgetary and interest and exchange rates etc. Through analysing government’s policy on those matters, help company make informed decisions
- Researching, analysing and advising on the design of markets and incentives, and market activity
- Interpret and forecast the trends of the market by studying present and historical trends
- Researching various fields including politics, healthcare, education and energy etc
- Staying informed on current economic and political developments and their potential impact on the economy, both in Australia and internationally
- Collecting and analysing international and national financial and socioeconomic data, advising businesses on economic decisions, and developing models for economic forecasting
- Analyse collected data by using software, statistics and mathematical models
- Studying the economic impact of laws and regulations
- Identifying and advising potential risks and opportunities for investment and business strategy, helping businesses respond to changing marketing conditions
- Communicating data in the form of presentations, technical reports, and non-technical reports
- Preparing reports on research findings. Summarising research findings including key results, conclusions and recommendations
- Participating in conferences and events to share research findings and network with other economists

**Skills & Experience**
- Master’s degree in economics
- A minimum of two (2) year experience as an Economist or similar role
- Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills
- Good organisational skills
- Previous finance experience in large corporations is highly desirable
- Critical thinking skills: Economics need to be able to evaluate information, consider multiple perspectives, and make sound judgements.
