The Revenue Forecasting Team is at the leading edge of forecasting practice in Australia and delivers accurate, reliable and timely revenue forecasts that support evidence-based decision making by government. Our applied research work informs strategic policy development that improves the living standards of all Victorians.

**About the role**

The Revenue Forecasting Team within the Revenue Group is currently looking for a technical economist with specialist time series econometrics and forecasting skills as well as programming skills, to fill a VPSG4 ongoing vacancy.

In the role, as an Economist you will:

- work as part of an expert team of economists, data scientists and researchers to deliver accurate, reliable and timely revenue forecasts for Victorian budget publications that support evidence-based decision making by government
- work both independently and collaboratively to improve the quality of revenue forecasting models and research on complex economic policy issues
- deliver briefings to senior management and government that are timely, accessible and accurate
- collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that revenue forecasts reflect the most up-to-date information and policy developments
- help foster a positive team culture.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- a tertiary qualification in economics, finance or a related field
- experience using economic or econometric models as the basis for the preparation of forecasts
- experience preparing high quality verbal and written briefings and advice; including the ability to convey complex issues persuasively and effectively in plain language

Familiarity using EViews, R, Matlab or Stata to analyse and interpret data would be advantageous.
