Position Objective

Our Baristas are responsible for providing the highest level of service and quality beverage products to the customer according to the standard operating procedures outlined by the company.

Key responsibilities and duties

Café Operations
- Carry out beverage production, cleaning, preparing and handling of stock within the coffee station and café areas
- Prepare, safely handle all hot and cold beverages during preparation, serve and sell by following recipes and preparation techniques according to prescribed company standard operating procedure
- Assist with the sale of specialty coffee including the grind as per customer request
- Ensure a regular schedule of cleaning is completed across the bar area, service area, floor, grinder, etc.
- Prepare, set up and restock service area and pastry as required upon opening, throughout service, shift handover and closing.
- Complete regular temp. checks of key equipment (refrigerators, freezers) and monitor the performance specialist coffee equipment to ensure it functions correctly.

Customer Service
- Maintain friendly customer service, welcoming and greeting at the take-away counter, attend to customer order and handling of products professionally and politely
- Explain, present, educate and demonstrate specialist coffee products to customers, responding to any enquiries or interest over the counter on products, services or beverage menu
- Report any customer complaints or dissatisfaction to immediate superior without delay or hassle
- Handling of all transactions including cash with honesty and integrity

Occupational Health & Safety
- Comply with all reasonable instruction from Management regarding safety in the workplace
- Report all injuries and near misses in line with the Company’s process for incident reporting.
- Identify and report hazards to ensure effective hazard management in the workplace
- Contribute to an environment which is free from discrimination, bullying, and harassment
- Fast learner and able to work under pressure;
- Previous experience as a Barista in a fast-paced professional environment;
- Be able to work a flexible roster including, weekends, evening and holidays;
- Staff management
- Ability to work productively and safely at all times with a focus on quality control;
- Strong knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices and occupational health & safety standards.
