About this opportunity

The NACC has a Security Officer position available for immediate filling in Canberra. A merit list will be established to fill vacancies arising in the next 18 months.

About the role

Under the direction of the Senior Security Officer, the Security Officer supports the management of the NACC’s protective security measures, including administrative functions and arrangements that support compliance with the Australian Government’s Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF). The role provides a key support to the effective management of the physical security of the NACC’s properties.

**Key activities**
- Supporting the agencies on-boarding processes for employees and contractors.
- Contributing to the review and ongoing maintenance of security clearances through liaison with the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).
- Providing guidance to staff and developing instructional materials on all aspects of protective security, including supporting the delivery of security awareness training and promoting a positive security culture.
- Supporting security investigations in response to any security breaches or incidents.
- Internal and external stakeholder engagement in support of the management of the NACC’s facilities and properties.
- Contributing to the management of all electronic security systems across the Commission including CCTV, electronic access control, and key management systems.
- Providing support to the Commission’s guard force across all locations.
- Participating in an on-call after-hours roster which may include after-hours attendance.
- Provide administrative support to the Security Team.
- Perform other duties commensurate with the objectives of the team and classification.

Eligibility
- **Citizenship**- applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- **Security clearance**- this is a Designated Security Assessment Position. The occupant of this position will be required to undergo and maintain a security clearance to Negative Vetting 2.
- **Suitability assessment** - the NACC must be satisfied that successful applicants are of suitable character. They must undergo a rigorous pre-employment suitability screening process that can be intrusive in nature including (but is not limited to) detailed background, character, employment, police and financial checks.
