The Civil Operations Manager will lead the Civil Operations team to safely and profitably deliver all civil services in accordance with the Yarra Valley Water (YVW) contractual requirements.
- A senior member of the project leadership team, reporting to the Project Director, the Operations Manager will be providing Operations Management through civil contract(s) management, works delivery oversight, service performance monitoring, people management, and associated business and systems improvements.
- This role is responsible and accountable for Ventia’s performance under the YVW civil maintenance contract(s), all civil works delivery and personnel, and all associated civil works delivery processes.
- Role Responsibilities:
- Be a senior and leading member of the Project leadership team, with capability to mentor and guide other project leaders and influence decision making for the betterment of the project.
- Oversight, management and accountability for all contractual civil works delivery requirements - personnel, KPIs, client engagement, budget, P&L, risk, continuous improvement, SHEQ, etc.
- Understand all contractual documents and commercial structures to drive compliance with contractual obligations and achieve Ventia’s business objectives.
- Monitor and manage incoming works, performance and budgets against all contractual requirements, and ensure all works are executed in accordance with contract(s) without scope creep.
- Identify and manage operational and contractual risks and opportunities within the Project.
- Prepare monthly operational reports or as otherwise required to meet the needs of the project.
- Manage resources to ensure availability to achieve all work plans and work forecasts.
- Provide analysis and insight to identify opportunities to reduce cost for the Client and understand the commercial impacts on Ventia.
- Assist with the negotiation of subcontractor schedule of rates.
- Support the Commercial team with subcontractor management, performance and dispute resolution. Implement actions to address changing legal and regulatory requirements, industry best practices, Client standards, and Ventia Group policies.**About You**
You will have extensive experience working as an Operations Manager or similar leadership role ideally within a similar industry accompanied with:
- Degree in Engineering; Civil, Mechanical or Electrical (Desirable)
- A strong knowledge of cost management and finance principles
- Demonstrated strong commercial and business acumen, including analytical, strategic and delivery risk mitigation skills
- Sound technical understanding and demonstrated operational experience in delivering complex projects or high-volume works
- Experienced in leading change management
- Demonstrated ability to implement and manage lean field workflow processes
- Demonstrated successful people management of large work teams >60
- Evidence of strong Client management through retention of past key contacts and relationships Ability to manage and resolve conflict**What We Offer You**
