**The Department**

The Alfred Health Speech Pathology Department is a co-ordinated service across all of Alfred Health which includes The Alfred Hospital; Caulfield Hospital; and Sandringham Hospital.

**The Role**

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic **Allied Health Assistant **to join the Alfred Health Speech Pathology team.

The position is based in the Acute and rehabilitation Services at Alfred Health and will provide support to the Speech Pathology Department
- To provide high quality Speech Pathology services under the supervision of the treating therapist in the Speech Pathology Department Service, in both Acutre and Rehabilitation Units (and Aged Care as required)
- To contribute to the overall smooth running of the Speech Pathology services
- To contribute to a safe working environment for patients and staff
- Coordination of AHA student education programmes.
- To prepare/develop assessment and therapy resources as required.
- To prepare assessment materials for videofluoroscopy assessments in a timely manner.
- Communication of relevant issues relating to patient care to the treating therapist.

**Qualifications/Skills**
- Cert III Allied Health Assistant or other relevant health-related qualification
- Ability to liaise effectively with hospital and departmental staff, patients and doctors
- Ability to interact with patients with communication impairment.
- Ability to interact with patients with behavioural/social/emotional difficulties.
- Ability to learn new software packages relevant to patient care and administration.
