**What does the business unit do?**
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria.
Data, Digital and Insights (DDI) focuses on meeting the departments data and digital needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes. The specialist groups within DDI consist of Technology Solutions and Evidence and Insights.
Technology Solutions explores and employs modern technology to enable the department's business to function via the use of modern, appropriate platforms, products and services.
Evidence and Insights is responsible for providing end-to-end evidence-based policy support to the Department of Justice and Community Safety, and the reporting of data and research to the Victorian public through the Crime Statistics Agency and the National Coronial Information System.
**What will the role do?**
The Offender Services Network (OSN) Technical Officer is responsible for the following:
- Technical support for the Offender Services Network, Platform, and services.
- Assist with implementation and support of the new and existing offender-based technology solutions.
- Deliver IT risk management of prisoner and offender technology solutions and advise & assist the Operations team when dealing with security breaches and events.
- Support OSN Operations to ensure we have a stable. reliable and sustainable environment underpinned by optimised infrastructure, which is secure and has best in class risk management processes in place
**What skills should an Offender Services Network Technical Officer have?**
- Established knowledge of a wide variety of Technologies Including:
- Cisco Networks (Routers, Switches & Wireless Access Points)
- Network Management & Network Security (Wireless Lan Controller & network equipment)
- End user computing devices (including Thin Client Terminals, Windows laptops, Chromebooks and Samsung Tablets),
- Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Applications
- Citrix Thin Client Platforms
- Microsoft SharePoint
- Scripting and Programming (desirable)
- Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to quickly understand, troubleshoot and resolve issues or problems.
- Understand business requirements to build solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations
- An ability to investigate and analyse faults and to participate in the process of identifying the root cause of issues with several teams.
- Strong understanding of ICT governance and security management processes
- Graduate in Information Technology, Computer Science or Information Studies is highly desirable.
