**About the Business Unit**:
Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a maximum-security remand facility based in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Prisoners on remand are alleged offenders who were not bailed when charged with a crime and are awaiting the outcome of their court case.
**About the Role**:
At the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC), each Justice Officer role specialises in one of five streams Records/Property, Human Resources, Stores/Canteen, Infrastructure/Technology/Finance and Administration. Over time, and with appropriate support and training, Justice Officers may be rotated between these streams to provide career enhancement opportunities to those staff, and operational flexibility to the prison.
**Some of your duties will include**:
- Work within a multidisciplinary team to contribute to the holistic management of prisoners at the MRC, including supporting community transition, monitoring, and encouraging program involvement and contributing to community referral for post release issues.
- Under direction, provide individual assessments and referrals which are responsive to individual prisoner needs.
- Under direction, facilitate group prisoner orientation sessions and information sessions.
This position requires direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.
**About you**:
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience in or understanding of working within a Correctional environment.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations.

Upon commencement of employment with the department you will be required to provide evidence that you have an up-to-date vaccination status within the timelines specified by the department into the DJCS Service Portal. This includes evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).
**Acceptable evidence includes**:
- COVID-19 digital certificate or ATAGI exemption certificate (available via your myGov account)
- Your immunisation history statement (available via your myGov account)
Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
