**About the Role**: As the Principal Planning Officer, you will develop facilities briefs and masterplans as well as review and guide designs for new infrastructure projects across the approximately 1200 state schools in Queensland. It is expected you will work collaboratively with schools, regional infrastructure advisors and central office staff, through productive working relationships, including the ability to manage expectations to ensure projects are delivered within scope and budget and are fit for purpose. The Principal Planning Officer reports to the Manager, Service Strategy.You will have responsibility for, but not be limited to:

- Support the delivery and lead the analysis and reporting of infrastructure planning programs, with a specific focus on the development of new school proposals.
- Contribute to the establishment of policies, processes and tools for the delivery and implementation of quality frameworks to identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Contribute to the development of performance measures to evaluate and report on specific infrastructure planning programs.
- Establish and maintain strategic networks with local governments, external agencies, regional infrastructure advisors and central office staff to monitor issues and changes, and to identify, define and analyse best practice approaches to implementing consistent processes for a range of infrastructure and planning related issues.

**What you need to succeed**:
Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications for this position, the ideal applicant will have a track record to:

- Undertake objective, systematic research and analysis as well as recognise the links between interconnected issues in order to provide workable solutions for schools, regions and the branch.
- Manage work in terms of timeframes, budget and quality as well as responding in a positive and flexible manner to change and uncertainty.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with team members, stakeholders and clients as well as actively listening, involving others and recognising their contributions.
