**About the role**
As an Investigator, you will plan, contribute to and implement the ACIC’s intelligence operations to generate both unique insights into transnational serious and organised crime (TSOC) and opportunities for enforcement agencies to disrupt these networks. Investigators employ intelligence collection tradecraft, investigative methodologies and project management skills whilst leveraging ACIC capabilities including coercive powers, human intelligence, physical and technical surveillance, bulk data and advanced analytics. They do this within multi-disciplinary teams to understand and shape the environment to ensure operational intelligence strategies deliver on ACIC objectives.
Key responsibilities:
- Participate in intelligence operations and investigations that seek to generate unique insights into TSOC threats, particularly through the targeted deployment of ACIC coercive powers and the identification, recruitment and management of human sources
- Contribute to complex intelligence projects relating to nationally significant crime, including providing input into intelligence strategies and thematic strategies
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including state and federal police and international law enforcement partners, to ensure optimal outcomes for ACIC intelligence operations
- Extract relevant information from intelligence operations and investigations to produce unique and impactful information and intelligence reports
- Undertake human source intelligence collection within the context of relevant legislative, policy and legal frameworks, including cultivation, recruitment, deployment and, where appropriate, aftercare
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships which enhance or leverage opportunities with Law Enforcement and National Intelligence Community partners, to ensure the ACIC is positioned to deliver intelligence insights and operational outcomes
- Understand and operate effectively within the context of relevant legislative, policy and legal frameworks, including relevant compliance activities
- Ability to operate autonomously guided by demonstrable risk management.

**Essential Qualifications**
- Ability to successfully complete the Criminal Intelligence Development Program
- As an employee in a designated high-risk role, complete an annual psychological assessment
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and maintain collaborative and productive internal and external working relationships
- Proven ability to operate as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a dynamic, agile environment to drive intelligence outcomes
**Desirable Qualifications**
- Demonstrated experience in an intelligence or investigative role in either the National Intelligence Community, defence or law enforcement
- Demonstrated understanding of investigative and/or intelligence collection and analysis methodologies
- A demonstrated high-level understanding of serious and organised crime threats to Australian interests, with extensive experience leading and conducting complex and sensitive investigations and operations
- Demonstrated understanding of human source recruitment and management methodologies, including associated legal and regulatory frameworks
- Ability to successfully complete and maintain human source operations training
- An ability to obtain AFP special membership, including Use of Force, by virtue of being a current or former (within the past five years) sworn member of a State, Federal or International law enforcement agency.
**Eligibility**
- ** Citizenship** - To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
- ** Security Clearance** - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
