**Research Curator**
Utilise your extensive research skills and specialist knowledge in Australian history to enrich the knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of MHNSW’s collections. As Research Curator, you will have the opportunity to create new knowledge through working with MHNSW’s diverse museum collections and the State Archives Collection that will be shared across public programs, exhibitions and online content. You will enjoy working in the collaborative, knowledgeable and supportive Curatorial & Research Team.
**What the opportunity is**:
- Employment with Museums of History NSW.
- Curator Grade 1. Remuneration package includes salary ($95,131- $113,746) employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
- Temporary full-time employment until 30 June 2025.
- The role will work across Sydney.
**What we do**
MHNSW brings together the museums, historic houses and associated collections previously in the care of Sydney Living Museums with the vast collection of more than 13 million items held by the former NSW State Archives. This includes one of the world’s most complete and important collections documenting colonisation.
**What you’ll do with us**
Discover and articulate connections to the social, political and cultural histories and heritage of NSW through high quality research that guides, supports and contributes to the development and delivery of knowledge, content and wider organisational projects and initiatives enabling MHNSW to increase public access to and engagement with its collections, sites and stories.

- Describe a situation where you have had to manage competing curatorial tasks that had different time frames and milestones. What were these tasks, how did you prioritise them, and what skills and strategies did you use to complete them successfully?
**Essential requirements of the role**
- Degree in history, cultural studies or similar fields and post graduate qualification in relevant area or equivalent experience.
- Experience in the galleries, libraries, archives and/or museums sector in conducting research that generates and applies new knowledge to increase public access to and engagement with collections.
- Willingness to work across MHNSW sites and ability to travel to multiple locations.
**Also note**:
- To be eligible for an ongoing role in the NSW Public Sector you need to be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident. For temporary and casual roles, you need to hold a valid visa giving you permission to work in Australia as required by the role.
- A talent pool may be created for future ongoing and temporary roles and is valid for a period of up to 18 months.
