Sydney, Australia HAYS Full time

Senior Legal Counsel position with a global contractor | Work on a variety of front-end and back-end matters

**Your new company**

This construction company is an award-winning contractor that employs over 11,000 globally and has delivered iconic projects around the world. In Australia, it operates across all sectors with a focus on social infrastructure including hospitals, educational facilities, stadiums and CBD high rises as well as other complex infrastructure, servicing both government and private sector developer clients.

**Your new role**

This role will see you providing support to a range of internal stakeholders on a range of front-end and back-end construction law matters, including:

- reviewing, negotiating, amending and drafting various construction contracts including head contracts, consultancy agreements, joint venture agreements, subcontractor agreements, supply agreements as well as terms and conditions, confidentiality agreements and other general commercial contracts;
- Advising the business on contract administration and contract interpretation;
- supporting the business with back-end matters relating to contract disputes, Security of Payment claims, arbitration matters and Home Building Act claims, including managing external counsel as required;
- identifying legal risks and advising the business on risk management and dispute avoidance;
- assisting in the development and delivery of training to the business on contract interpretation and administration issues.

**What you'll need to succeed**

You must hold (or be eligible to hold) an unrestricted practising certificate, with 5-7 years PAE in construction law. You will have the confidence to work autonomously on both front-end and back-end construction matters with an ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills are critical, as are strong problem-solving skills and a highly commercial approach when providing advice and guidance to internal stakeholders.

The role will require interstate travel to other offices and sites from time to time.

**What you'll get in return**

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to step up into a more hands-on role and work directly with business stakeholders on a wide range of projects. Working in a small team you will be given lots of autonomy within a very collegiate and supportive work environment.

**What you need to do now**

If this job isn't quite right for you but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.
