The primary purpose of this Line 1 role is to manage the implementation, execution and monitoring of the risk and compliance management framework, partnering with the business to ensure that current and emerging risks are appropriately identified, assessed, and monitored.
About the role
- Partnering with the Divisional business units to identify opportunities to strengthen their operational processes through controls, automation or opportunities to introduce efficiencies.
- Supporting the business with developing controls and/or compliance measures to ensure their on-going compliance with contractual, legislative and regulatory obligations.
- Supporting the business with the development, execution, and monitoring of remedial activities for operational loss/compliance incidents.
- Supporting the business units in preparing for Line 2 control assurance reviews and maintaining internal control framework documentation.
- Facilitating risk identification and control assessments as part of key strategic projects and/or business changes.
- Acting as an advisor on risk and compliance matters and in the development of processes to manage risk and compliance in line with the current Risk Management Framework.
- Providing insights on root cause(s), identifying actions to be implemented to prevent such losses in the future, and ensuring operational loss/compliance incidents are resolved in a timely manner.
- Facilitating workshops to undertake risk and control assessments, maintaining relevant documents.
- Guiding management in developing action plans to address current/emerging business and compliance risks.
- Contributing to strengthening the divisional risk culture through increasing awareness of risk management and compliance.

About you
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
- Significant experience in a risk and compliance or audit management role for a complex, matrixed general insurance / financial services organisation.
- Proven analytical and critical thinking capability to interpret a range of data (including contractual, legislative and regulatory obligations), identify patterns, trends and links that inform judgements and solutions.
- Demonstrated technical understanding of design and operating effectiveness of controls.
- Highly developed problem-solving skills, combined with a curious and creative mind-set.
- Ability to interpret and analyse complex information, extract meaningful insights, and evaluate options for decision making.
- Ability to plan and prioritise effectively, organise tasks and manage competing resources and demands.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with audiences at all levels with clarity, impact, and influence.
