**About the Role**

This role manages the reinsurance arrangements for Insurance for NSW (IfNSW) schemes and provides strategic senior level advice as well as develops state and public sector wide strategies on reinsurance/insurance issues.

**Duties**

It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as **Reinsurance Manager** you will:

- Provide advice and input on developing risk appetite for the Treasury Managed Fund (TMF), one of the largest schemes within IfNSW schemes.
- Develop and provide strategic advice and management of the reinsurance requirements of the TMF and other schemes.
- Ensure governance and compliance in line with the Reinsurance Management Strategy (ReMS) and Reinsurance Arrangement Statement (RAS).
- Work closely with Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims and Finance to manage risk and reinsurance financial implications and outcomes.
- Manage the annual reinsurance renewal including strategies, process, marketing and engagement with the Reinsurance Service Provider and reinsurers.
- Provide Reinsurance papers/briefs for NSW Treasury Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO), icare’s Board and/or Audit and Risk Committee (ARC), and other internal and external parties as required.

**Skills & Experience**
- Extensive experience (10 years +) in insurance or reinsurance buying, underwriting or reinsurance broking.
- Understanding of Captive insurance arrangements and knowledge of reinsurance arrangements associated with the IfNSW Schemes.
- A broad knowledge of relevant legislation and current contractual arrangements and willingness to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of the commercial insurance and reinsurance markets, including awareness of current and emerging national and international trends.
- Ability to explain and communicate complex information on reinsurance and insurance issues to a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability and experience to review, interpret and draft re/insurance-based language for both the TMF Statement of Cover and reinsurance arrangements.
- Experience in assessing the outputs of catastrophe and other modelling.
