Melbourne City Centre, Australia HAYS Full time

Provide case management to participants, acknowledging the traumatic nature of their history.

**Your new company**
This Federal Government Department delivers government programs to support ex-service men and women and their families. They are currently seeking a Psychologist, Social Worker, Registered Nurse, Mental Health Registered Nurse or Occupational Therapist to join their Specialised Team in a full-time capacity on a 12 month initial contract.

A Taskforce was established in 2012 to assist participants who had suffered sexual and physical abuse, sexual harassment and workplace bullying and harassment. The Specialised Case Team was created in response to this announcement and the large number of liability claims that followed. The SCT includes a group of highly skilled and trained Delegates investigating and determining Initial Liability claims for injuries or diseases relating to the abuse suffered in Defence as well as a group of trained social workers providing trauma informed case management services.

**Your new role**
You will be required to provide case management support to participants, acknowledging the traumatic nature of their history with Defence and the potential re-traumatising nature of submitting a claim. This case management utilises a trauma informed approach to develop trust and rapport with the participants, enabling the case manager to obtain information pertaining to their assault as well as linking them in with any clinical and non-clinical supports within the community. This work is undertaken whilst acknowledging the impacts of the wider systemic issues on an individual’s mental health and wellbeing.
You will be responsible for:

- Acting as a primary point of contact for participants submitting claims involving physical and sexual assault and sexual harassment.
- Provide liaison and advocacy for participants both within the Department and with external agencies.
- Complete comprehensive psycho-social assessments to ascertain support needs.
- Manage risk, including completing formal risk assessments and intervention for high risk participants.
- Provide ongoing trauma informed and veteran centric case management.
- Obtain highly sensitive information from the Veteran regarding instances of sexual and physical assault, abuse, harassment and serious bullying and bastardisation. This is done via the use of specialised skills in trauma centred practice.

**What you'll need to succeed**
To be successful in this role you will possess the following:

- You're a qualified Psychologist, Mental Health Accredited, Social Worker, Registered Nurse, Mental Health Nurse or Occupational Therapist eligible or registered with AHPRA or AASW.
- Experience in coordinating and assisting in the management of a caseload of complex and potentially at-risk clients.
- Professional case note documentation, including: maintaining confidential records and completing psychosocial and risk assessments.
- You must be an Australian Citizen.

**What you'll get in return**
An exciting role that truly exists to help impact the lives of clients and their families. You will become an integral part of a high functioning team that will work in union to achieve this common aim. A highly competitive hourly rate at an APS6 of $60 + super is also available.

**What you need to do now**
