**The Role**
The Manager, Local Jobs First Engagement supports the Local Jobs First Commissioner to advocate for the use of local goods and services in Victorian government procurement, on behalf of Victorian industry, including small and medium enterprises, as well as promoting the employment of apprentices, trainees and cadets on government construction projects.
The Manager, Local Jobs First Engagement role will have the following accountabilities:
- Initiate and develop positive and constructive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders by leading the engagement and advocacy work of the office to develop and deliver key initiatives driving quality outcomes in the implementation of the Local Jobs First Policy.
- Provide strategic advice around the implementation of Local Jobs First Policy, major emerging issues, trends and strategic opportunities, risks and potential interventions relevant to the achievement of the aims of Local Jobs First Policy.
- Lead the office engagement with Local Jobs First projects to educate and ensure the achievement of the aims of the Local Jobs First Policy working together with Government agencies and contractors, and engaging with other key external stakeholders in local industry. The role also engages with these stakeholders to lead the engagement work of the office in promoting the areas of Social Procurement and the Fair Jobs Code.
**The Team**
The position of Manager, Local Jobs First Engagement forms a part of the Industry, Trade and Investment group in the Local Jobs First Commissioner's Office.
The Industry, Trade and Investment (ITI) group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. This role sits within the Local Jobs First Commissioner's Office (OLJFC). The Commissioner's role is to advocate on behalf of Victorian small and medium enterprises, as well as promoting the employment of apprentices, trainees and cadets on government projects.
**About You**
- Proven experience in providing leadership in engagement and advocacy in a complex policy and stakeholder environment.
- Proven ability to negotiate, influence and gain consensus at senior levels within both the private and public sectors to deliver quality outcomes.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading and delivering strategic initiatives, education and advisory, with a high-level of understanding of the Government's economic focus and a demonstrated understanding of the levers and drivers across Government and industry.
