We are looking for an experienced L&D professional to lead, coach and mentor a small high-performing team responsible for the development and coordination of learning and development initiatives.

We play a critical role in building the capability and capacity of our workforce and need to be ready to meet these challenges, now and into the future. Our focus is on business needs and user experience first, and through genuine partnerships we create high impact, engaging and relevant best practice solutions.

We are responsible for:

- Building workforce capability through the design, development and implementation of core APS skills, leadership and management learning solutions
- Embedding the shift to digital learning solutions, to support our national workforce, and hybrid working arrangements
- Providing specialist advice and support to stakeholders, including those responsible for role-specific capability development
- Supporting continuous improvement of the L&D service offer including through improved access and automation of our services
- Managing the department's Essential Learning and Studybank programs and policies
- Engaging with whole-of-government initiatives including the APS Academy and Professional Streams to leverage existing resources.

You will be:

- Able to analyse and design fit-for-purpose solutions. You’ll consult with stakeholders to understand different perspectives and manage expectations. You’ll use data, research, and learner insights to implement effective solutions.
- Hands on and able to design, develop and curate engaging learner-centred content, and support a talented team to do the same. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your creativity, implement your own ideas and deliver solutions that have real impact.
- Collaborative. Taking a genuine approach to bringing people together to solve problems and achieve collective results.
- A strong communicator. You provide sound advice tailored to the audience, negotiate priorities, ask challenging and critical questions, and build trusted partnerships. You’ll be confident to develop a range of written material including presentations, briefs, intranet content, corporate communication messages, contracts, and strategies.
- Solutions driven. You manage your time wisely, motivating and supporting the team to keep deliverables on track and achieve outcomes. You have sound judgement allowing you to make quick, evidence-based decisions.
