Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

- Demonstrated basic knowledge and skill in virological or microbiological techniques particularly molecular based techniques.
- Demonstrate technical competence in the use of common computer software packages and knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge of laboratory information systems.
- Ability to perform routine and more complex technical procedures, as required, with mínimal supervision commensurate with level of experience.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others in multidisciplinary teams and actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour
- Demonstrate a commitment to, and engagement in personal professional development and training activities

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- The successful applicant must hold at least an Associate Diploma (generally prior to 2000) or a Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) qualification (Post 2000) in an eligible discipline.
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties
- All newly appointed staff are engaged with the understanding that they will be required to participate in an On-Call roster and may be required to work any rostered shift within the 24-hour 7-day roster period, including overtime as required.
- Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements
- It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
- Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies will also be required for this position. These vaccinations will be provided for the successful applicant post commencement if necessary.
