**The Company**

**The Role**
The position of Sustainability Analyst is a pivotal role providing key support to the Environment Sustainability Lead. Fundamentally, the role’s purpose is to support the team in the coordination of environmental and sustainability metrics, analysis and advice to key stakeholders.
Responsibilities / Critical Deliverables:
- Collation and interpretation of key environmental sustainability metrics including greenhouse gas/pollution inventories in addition to waste, energy, and resource consumption data.
- Contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives and plans in relation to driving Aurizon’s Climate Strategy and Action Plan and environmental sustainability objectives (climate change, energy, waste, and resource consumption).
- Facilitate independent assurance over key sustainability metrics (including National Greenhouse and Energy reporting).
- Provide research and analysis to support Aurizon’s Climate Strategy and Action Plan initiatives.
- Assist with preparation of submissions and supporting documentation for capital works funding to ensure environmental requirements are maintained.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships and manage expectations of key customers, regulators and stakeholders.
- Represent the business in nominated ESG forums.
**About you**
You will be passionate about providing pragmatic and fit for purpose solutions to support Aurizon manage their ongoing environmental risks and opportunities for innovation.
Ideal Experience (or willingness to learn and be mentored) includes:
- A Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science) or equivalent qualification.
- A broad-based understanding of the NGER Scheme and associated instruments such as the Safeguard Mechanism would be an advantage.
- Research, analysis, and collaboration with a broad cross-section of stakeholders.
- Interpersonal skills including exercising initiative and judgement beneficial to supporting organisational objectives to ensure continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated communication skills, including writing and preparing environmental management plans (or equivalent), training or presentation materials, communications activities, and the ability to monitor and measure implemented recommendations.
