Office of the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Council within Department of Premier and Cabinet is looking for an experienced and talented Project Officer to join the Ancestral Remains Unit (ARU).
The Ancestral Remains Unit is staffed entirely by Aboriginal staff and is responible for the delivery of Council's responsibilities as they relate to Ancestral Remains and Secret or Sacred Objects (SSO).
As the **Project Officer - Ancestral Remains Unit (ARU),** you will undertake tasks associated with the repatriation of Ancestral Remains. This includes but is not limited to undertaking research, stakeholder engagement, preparation of reports and support materials and preparation of Ancestral Remans for repatriation.
Some travel across Victoria will be required to undertake this role, thus a current Victorian driver's license is essential.
**About you**
- Excellent understanding of Aboriginal cultural heritage, particularly as it relates to Ancestral Remains and SSO.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with Traditional Owners, Registered Aboriginal Parties (RAPs), land managers, government agencies and other stakeholders.
- Highly-developed written communications skills.
- Proven ability to undertake tasks and duties effectively and efficiently with mínimal supervision.
- Well-developed organisational and time management skills with ability to keep accurate records.
