Position Information

Penshurst West Public School is located on the lands of Biddegal country. It is situated in Mortdale, close to Georges River, and is surrounded by several parklands. The school, with an enrolment of 225 students, including three support classes, provides an inclusive and collaborative learning environment (K-6). The core values of respect, responsibility, safety and effort enable students to become active and engaged global citizens. The dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff, including experienced and early career educators, are focused on a shared commitment to student academic and social-emotional wellbeing. Strong partnerships between staff, students, parents, and the wider community promote open and respectful communication. This collaborative approach helps create a positive and supportive learning culture, where every student is empowered to thrive both personally and academically.

Selection Criteria

Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria,

  1. Strong, visible leadership with exemplary interpersonal skills and proven expertise in engaging all community members to successfully establish and maintain relational trust through transparent communication where everyone's contribution is valued.

  2. An inclusive, visionary leader with the skills and ability to promote staff and student wellbeing through a safe, school-wide supportive learning environment.

  3. A collaborative, distributive leader focused on inspiring and building capacity of staff and community members through a strategic inclusive approach, ensuring positive cohesion in improving educational outcomes for students (K-6).

  4. Proven ability to lead and inspire a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement in the implementation of evidence-informed explicit teaching practices, aligned with the NSW Department of Education's Plan for Public Education and the focus on 'Equity for Excellence'.

General Selection Criteria
  1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high-quality education

  2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

  3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

  4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

  5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

  6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P2 for 2025
