**About the Department**:

**About the School**:
When the Drayton National School opened its doors on September 6th, 1851, 24 children were enrolled. In 1860, following the declaration of statehood for Queensland, the school became Drayton State School.
From this start, our school has grown to an enrolment of approximately 300 students from Prep to Year 6. Our current classrooms, hall, library and computer rooms are a far cry from those early days. However, we are proud of our history, and our links to surrounding city and country on the Darling Downs.
**Role**:
As the School Support Officer you will have responsibility for the following:
- Be available from 8:30am each day to monitor students in the wearing of uniform and attendance at school.
- Provide supervision and support to students who may require extra assistance in adapting to the school routine and engagement.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to
- Develop strong relationships with students using exceptional skills and communication.
- Demonstrate knowledge around working with students from low socio-economic background and or trauma.
- In consultation with the Deputy Principal be involved in programs under the direction of the assigned teacher to supervise students.
- Participate in regular monitoring, through observation and evaluation, the effectiveness of programs in improving student outcomes.
- Maintain quality in the performance of all duties, ensuring adherence to methods, guidelines and procedures while continually seeking improvements in the way work in undertaken.
When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Blue card and Criminal History Check.
