**Your next career opportunity**
You will have the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in algebraic graph theory as part of an ARC-funded Discovery Project at the University of Melbourne. You'll work alongside leading experts, focusing on perfect codes in Cayley graphs and their connections to underlying groups. This role offers you the chance to develop your research expertise and make significant contributions to the field.
**Your responsibilities will include**:
- **Conduct Innovative Research**: Lead research efforts in algebraic graph theory, focusing on perfect codes in Cayley graphs and related areas.
- **Publish and Present Findings**:Contribute to high-impact publications and present research at international conferences and seminars.
- **Collaborate and Mentor**:Work closely with senior academics and assist in supervising undergraduate research students.
- **Contribute to Grant Applications**:Support the preparation of research proposals for internal and external funding bodies.
**You may be a great fit if**:
You have a PhD (or are near completion) in algebraic graph theory, group theory, or a related discipline, with expertise in graph symmetry, group actions on combinatorial structures, or related areas, preferably with the following skills:
- Have a strong publication record in relevant areas of mathematics.
- Possess excellent communication skills in English.
- Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Show aptitude for developing and completing research projects with limited supervision.
- Have experience in or enthusiasm for mentoring undergraduate students.

**Your new team - School of Mathematics and Statistics**
The School of Mathematics and Statistics has a total of 90 continuing teaching and/or research staff; 37 research only staff and consultants; 19 academic specialists and 16 support staff. In 2023, there were 143 Research Higher Degree and 189 Coursework Master of Science students. The School has had 10 staff members inducted as Fellows of the Academy of Science.
