**Position Information**:
Baulkham Hills High School is a coeducational academically selective school with a support unit located in the North West of Sydney. The support unit caters for students with mild/moderate intellectual disability and autism. The school is culturally diverse and has an enrolment of 1,231 with 94% of students from a language background other than English. Entry into Year 7 is via an entrance examination which is conducted by the Selective High Schools and Opportunity Class Placement Unit of Department of Education. Entry into available places in Years 8 to 12 is determined by the school and is based on evidence of consistent academic excellence at the applicant’s former school. Students are encouraged to be well rounded individuals and to participate in leadership opportunities, bands programs, cadets, sporting pursuits, Duke of Edinburgh award and a wide range of extracurricular activities. Committed staff support the learning and wellbeing needs of both high potential and gifted students and students with learning support needs. The school places a strong emphasis on academic excellence and providing a broad curriculum. Other focus areas include growth mindset, wellbeing and the development of social responsibility.
**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Demonstrated capacity to lead colleagues in the Social Science faculty to plan, implement and review curriculum through the use of data and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning programs resulting in improved learning outcomes.
2. Demonstrated understanding of the needs of high potential and gifted students, with the ability to create programs that have a culture of differentiation and inspirational learning experiences that improve student learning outcomes
3. High level interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to effectively lead, mentor, collaborate and build positive, inclusive and trusting relationships with key stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead, manage and implement whole school improvement processes and initiatives that address school and faculty priorities.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
