**Who is the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator?**

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as a national entity responsible for
regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. Located in Brisbane, the NHVR minimises the
compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and
territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.

Position Description | Intelligence Officer

The Operations Division ensures the continued and improved effectiveness of operational processes and transactions for
customers and service users of the NHVR. The division is accountable for operational safety and compliance functions
across NHVR.

**Primary Objectives**

Support the delivery of analysis, intelligence and risk functions at the NHVR across a growing footprint of NHVR jurisdictions to
ensure a nationally consistent, effective and coordinated regulatory response that ensures a safe and compliant heavy vehicle
industry. The position will be contributing to the implementation of the National Regulatory Model.

**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities**
- Assist with and undertake data analysis that identifies emerging trends or threats pertaining to the identification

of NHVR’s safety and productivity objectives.
- Under direction, implement reliable prioritisation frameworks for strategic information so it can be effectively

used in the operational environment.
- Assist with inter-agency and cross-jurisdictional information sharing, and joint development of operational and

investigations planning to identify emerging risks and issues.
- Under direction, undertake evidence-based research and analysis, review alternatives in relation to policy

deliverables designed to contribute and enhance the NHVR’s intelligence-led risk-based approach.
- Assist with the determination of the effectiveness and efficiency of program interventions in changing non
- compliant behaviour and report as required.
- Report on the effectiveness of risk profiles and the corresponding tactics and provide continuous information

other internal stakeholders to assist with continuous improvement.
- Cleanse information from different data sources so it is operationally or strategically functional.
- Write and review reports, briefing notes, submissions and prepare and deliver presentations in accordance with

NHVR standards.
- Utilise and/or create PowerBI reports and QGIS projects to undertake analysis as required.
- Monitor and manage personal workload, task prioritisation and allocation, including responding to critical

events and incidents.
- Adhere to all NHVR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NHVR internal processes.
- Comply with WH&S policies and procedures and contribute and promote a safe and healthy work environment.
