Reporting to the Senior Manager, System Improvement Analytics, the Principal Analyst leads a portfolio of work to provide strategic intelligence on the operation of Victoria's health system and opportunities for improved efficiency, effectiveness and positive outcomes for Victorians. A key focus of this role will be leading predictive analytics, forecasting and simulation modelling to support needs analysis, resource allocation, service improvement and system change impact analysis.
The position operates in a complex and dynamic environment, requiring the ability to effectively plan and coordinate cross-departmental collaboration to ensure that the department's strategic information requirements are met. You will use your high-level analytical and data science expertise to design, develop and deploy predictive and simulation models, business intelligence tools and other information products that will position the department to effectively exercise its system leadership role. An ability to synthesise complex information and understand its strategic and business context is required. Experience in health sector demand modelling and forecasting is highly desirable.
Accountabilities
- Design, direct and undertake advanced analytics and modelling that inform strategic investment, commissioning, and service redesign to support optimal health system functioning and improved patient outcomes.
- Undertake and manage investigations of business data sets and evaluate analytical data from multiple sources to identify emerging issues, risk and trends impacting the successful achievement of key business objectives and imperatives.
- Provide authoritative advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative options and solutions to complex and sensitive policy and commissioning issues based on comprehensive modelling, research and investigations.
- Develop high quality reports, briefings and business intelligence products for a range of internal and external stakeholders to support service quality and improvement initiatives.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the department and work in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Produce outcomes in collaboration with key stakeholders to improve data and information capture, sharing, quality and management to facilitate high quality analytics and reporting.
