**How will I help?**
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Data or Financial Crime specialist to support the oversight and management of the Financial Crime Data Domain including governance, strategy, risk management, issue management and management reporting. The role reports to the Head of Financial Crime Risk and is hands-on, requiring engagement with central data teams and Divisions across the Group.
You will assist in implementing and maintaining the data domain governance framework in alignment with strategic direction and group policies/standards and support the development and execution of the strategic and technical data domain roadmap in collaboration with key stakeholders. You will contribute to initiatives aimed at improving the maturity of the data domain in line with agreed strategic objectives and monitor and ensure the data domain’s compliance with relevant group policies and standards. You will assist in identifying, defining, and maintaining critical data elements for the data domain and support efforts to document and maintain data dependencies through data lineage. In addition to this you will help define, implement, and maintain controls for data elements owned by the data domain.
Other key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in maintenance of data quality rules and dashboards for critical data elements, identifying gaps and issues as necessary.
- Assisting in resolving data issues by supporting prioritisation, contributing to root cause analysis, and aiding in the design of action plans to implement controls and address gaps.
- Providing support in conducting risk assessments for change initiatives impacting the data domain to safeguard data integrity.
- Co-ordinate and assist in delivering training programs to raise awareness of data domain governance and controls.
- Participate in performing data domain self-assessments on risks and controls and assist in the development and implementation of action plans to enhance processes, controls, and remediation efforts.
- Contribute to the preparation of data management reports for Risk Governance Committees, providing insights into the effectiveness of Financial Crime controls and highlighting current issues and incidents.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify continuous improvement opportunities and support prioritisation and execution efforts.
- Partner and work collaboratively with members of the Financial Crime Team and broader Risk and Compliance communities to advance Westpac’s strategic Financial Crime agenda and drive effective risk management outcomes.

**What do I need?**
To be successful in this role you will have 5+ years data, risk, governance, assurance, Financial Crime or other related experience. You will have a strong understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practices, including familiarity with data quality, data lineage, and critical data elements management. You will have experience supporting initiatives in risk assessment, compliance, and regulatory frameworks. You will have experience with data quality tools and dashboards, as well as supporting root cause analysis, issue remediation, and implementing controls for data accuracy and integrity.

- Good analytical capabilities to assist in identifying data dependencies, assessing risks, and contributing to solutions that improve processes and enhance data governance.
